This valuable series on Patents obtained in many countries during the years 1719 to 1868 under the running title of 'Qui est L'Inventeur ?.' was published in 38 parts in Schweizerische Photorundschau, being spread over three years of this bi-monthly journal until it ceased publication in 1966. The intention had been to cover patents up to 1889, and PGH pursued his work for this, but a new editor of the journal did not wish to continue with the series. The first part published on 8 May 1963, pp. 261-63 provided an introduction to the series and had information on 26 patents taken out between 1719 to 26 February 1841 which related in some way to the future art and science of photography. The following seven parts published in 1963 covered patents obtained between 8 March 1841 and 18 January 1858. Parts 9 to 17 appearing in 1964 dealt with patents of 7 January 1858 to 9 June 1862. Parts 18 to 30 dealing with patents of 10 June 1862 to 18 September 1866 appeared in the journal during 1965, and patents from 24 July 1866 to 23 November 1868 were published in parts 30 to 38 of the series in the issues of the journal produced in the first half of 1966.

91 'Some thoughts on the World's First Photograph', by Pierre G. Harmant and Paul Marillier [son-in-law of PGH], The Photographic Journal (London: RPS), April 1967, Vol. 107 (4), 130-40. In particular this is a study of the building, and of a model, to reconstruct the conditions in which Niépce obtained his "first successful experiment in fixing permanently this image from nature" probably done, from Harmant's analysis of Niépce's letters, between 4 June and 18 July 1827. The first sentence of his abstract to this article can serve as PGH's credo for all his work - " Too many legends and traditional stories obscure the History of Photography, and it seems necessary to make an effort to establish the truth, simply by studying the documents themselves and not only second-hand information".
